I know the title sounds adversarial. That was not the initial intention of the trip. Back up.. We took a long weekend up in the mtns.
Silverthorne was the destination. As parents of a 7 and 10 year old in Colorado we felt it was nearing neglect to not introduce the ski concept to them.
We had been holding off for various reasons -
- "easier when they are older"
- Not strong enough yet
- Money
- Too busy
- We are lame parents
So we bit the bullet and ..
We chose the full-day lesson route.
The morning was a little nuts. We ran all over the mountain. Rentals, tickets, and kid checkin. We finally dropped them off. Wahoo@!@!
At lunch time we did check in with them (spying really) a couple of times. They were definitely struggling.. As many already know we have to wonderful children with drastically different personalities. Frustration is certainly one prime reasons for paying for lessons..
At pickup time the instructor started out " Well.. what do I say about these guys?? We had a first day of lessons" J and I just looked and smirked.. The girls had a tough day. Lots of falling down time.. However.. J and I can look like champ instructors on the second day..
Second day.. Wahoo.. Bunny hill here we are -- And we certainly had more fun. The girls picked it up.. What a blast..

We've been wanting to plan a ski trip . . . maybe we should plan one with you in a few years when Jesse is a bit older. (Or, we just leave him at home with Mama!)
